ORG and TRA Transtool files and how they work
IntroductionWhen translating, you always have to manage 2 files: the .ORG file and the .TRA file. These files are necessary for the translation process to work.
To open a file in the Transtool application save both ORG and TRA files in the same directory and double click on the ORG file.
Do not change the file names at any point.
Known problems with working in synced foldersIt is not advised to work in folders that are synced to any type of cloud storage like Google sync or Dropbox as these services lock the files while syncing causing transtool to freeze up.
ORG fileThe .ORG file is a file that has the extension .org at the end of its name. This is the file that the Transtool application opens.
It contains:
TRA fileThe .TRA file is a file that has the extension .tra at the end of its name. This file contains the translations that have been made until the last save the Transtool application has done.
When opening and closing files Transtool will back up the translations made in a folder called cbgttbu in sequential order (with the extension meaning the version number of the translation). The TRA file can be replaced with an updated one, e.g. after correction or revision. Please note that you are required to send only the TRA file to CBG during your delivery.
If you receive an error message such as “Corrupted file: original” or “Corrupted file: translation”, contact CBG immediately. Do not work with corrupted files
